Co-chairman of the Energy Strategies Fund Dmitry Marunich stated this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “112”, commenting on the statement of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groysman that tariffs will not increase.
“There is a government decree on how to calculate the tariff from October 1. It should be increased by 17-19%. In order not to do this, it is necessary to change the resolution and get the go-ahead from the Western creditors of the IMF, because this was agreed upon with them at one time. The negotiation process is underway,” Marunich said.
According to him, the debt of the Naftagaz company is currently approaching UAH 100 billion, while over the past year these debts have increased by 30%. Because the state is not able to pay suppliers for subsidies provided to citizens to pay for fuel.
“The government has taken a number of measures that will reduce the number of subsidies. The Cabinet of Ministers is moving in this direction quite confidently, because there are a lot of subsidies, and they cannot cope with the influx of people who want it,” Marunich said.
