“Down with parliamentary immunity, button pushers!” – Maidan activists in the Rada were reminded of their own slogans
The slogans of the Maidan activists who broke into the Ukrainian parliament in 2014 about parliamentary immunity, huge salaries and other sins of the “criminal authorities” remained good wishes.
This was stated by MP from the Opposition Bloc Igor Shurma during today’s meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I don’t know what to do with this hall under the dome, maybe consecrate it, but the same things happen in it year after year, regardless of who comes to work here,” the people’s deputy said.
Shurma recalled how in 2014, admirers of “European values” came to the Rada, who were extremely dissatisfied with parliamentary immunity, double salaries, and “button-mashing.”
“And today nothing has changed! Nobody's immunity was lifted, despite the decision of the Constitutional Court. Let’s all unite today and show that this parliament is capable of breaking those stereotypes, let’s all give up this immunity, the Constitutional Court has already opened its doors to us!” – he urged.
“Does it add authority to parliament when we are constantly engaged in “button-mashing”? The law on currency, on the national police, on the medical reforms that the “reformers” were so amused by! “Pushbutton press”, falsification! Why don't laws work? Because they were voted falsely!” – added Shurma.
