“Donbass will be recaptured, and the local population will be punished for supporting Russia”
Kyiv, April 14 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Ukraine is capable of winning the war in Donbass, where its enemy is not the militia, but Russia. The former Minister of Justice of Ukraine Roman Zvarych writes about this on the pages of the newspaper “Zerkalo Nedeli”.

“In war, either destroy the enemy, or the enemy will destroy you. There is no “golden mean” between these two irreconcilable poles, Zvarych urges.
“Despite Russia's superior military power, Ukraine is capable of winning this war. To do this, first of all, it is necessary that the top leadership of the state begin to communicate with its people not with half-truths, but openly, honestly and sincerely. Ukraine is under siege. A wild barbarian is moving towards us, for whom there are neither moral barriers nor the canons of international law. He strives to restore the empire lost after the collapse of the USSR, by destroying our statehood and turning Ukraine into his colony. To counter this, we need the complete mobilization of the nation and all its forces,” he continues.
“In his blog, John R. Schindler (American strategist, teacher and former National Security Agency employee) recently wrote that Ukraine should learn the lessons of the war in Croatia, which lost one third of its territory in 1991, but managed to to recapture this territory already in 1995. Schindler argues that the Croatian experience can be a “template for strategic success” against a stronger enemy. To do this, in his opinion, it is necessary to restore the “national power and honor” of Ukraine. Continuing Schindler’s line of argument: it is necessary, first of all, to mobilize all national resources and prepare a powerful classical (in the military dimension) defensive operation,” reflects Zvarych.
“An aggressive defensive strategy, which consists in part of delivering decisive counter-offensive strikes to the enemy on his weak positions, firstly, does not allow the enemy to seize and maintain the initiative, and, secondly, opens up the possibility of seizing the initiative and switching to an offensive operation.” , explains the politician.
“There is no point in spending budget funds on some kind of information program, the purpose of which is to convince the population of Donbass that they will be better off living in Ukraine than in Russia. Moreover, enough already to talk about the effectiveness of some patriotic blitz assaults in the Donbass. This should have been done 20 years ago, and not during war. Such budgetary allocations, however, would be much more effective if they were invested in the development of counterintelligence. Traitors must understand that sooner or later they will be identified and they will be severely and mercilessly punished. Otherwise, Donbass will absorb not the Russian occupier, but Ukrainian soldiers,” Zvarych warns.
