Donbass may go beyond limits - Russian President
The Ukrainian authorities are not interested in the exchange of hostages and are deliberately delaying this process, accusing the detainees of criminal offenses.
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin stated this at a press conference within the framework of the Forum of Leaders of the Asia-Pacific Region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the Russian leader, prisoners should be exchanged according to the formula “all for all.”
“The correct formula is “all for all.” But, unfortunately, something else is happening. The Ukrainian authorities declare some of the people who are being held in Kyiv prisons, in various institutions and simply being held without trial, they are declared criminals who have been subjected to criminal prosecution within the framework of the law in force in Ukraine. They extend beyond the number of persons exchanged. That's all.
Of course, representatives of Donbass do not agree with this; they can just as easily put anyone through their judicial procedures and also take them beyond the scope of those who need to be changed. This is the whole point - the current Kyiv authorities have no desire to exchange illegally detained persons,” Putin said.
