Donbass will not be recognized as a temporarily occupied territory: we will not freeze the conflict, - Klimkin
Kyiv, September 13 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavel Klimkin believes that Donbass will not be recognized as a temporarily occupied territory, despite the fact that this is an easier path.

He stated this during the “Yalta European Strategy” meeting, answering the question of whether such a path would be more logical and simpler for resolving the conflict, as was the case in Transnistria. In his opinion, such a step is impossible, since it is impossible to answer the question “who is it occupied by?”
“DPR, LPR or Russia,” Klimkin asked in response, noting that he could not imagine Russia voting for such a decision in the UN Security Council.
In addition, the Foreign Minister emphasized that Kyiv’s task is not to turn the conflict into a frozen one.
“One of the main options that will ensure the security of Ukraine is the implementation of the association agreement,” he also recalled.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the Poroshenko administration stated that there are two options to ensure the security of Ukraine: either thanks to the United States, or thanks to NATO. At the same time, neither there nor there are yet ready to accept Ukraine.
