“Undoubtedly, the leaders of the “DPR” and “LPR” (as well as the residents of these “republics”) simply did not have enough intelligence to appreciate the good will of the central government, which was in fact ready to admit its incomplete control over the occupied territories. Recognize, but at the same time not send troops or use force against the separatists, their supporters and simply silent contemplators. The plan to reach an agreement “in an amicable way” failed, because Russia, which directs the terrorists’ actions, could not, of course, be satisfied with Kyiv’s loyalty. Only Europe gave Ukraine a “plus” for its work, but now everything has returned to normal, and our government will have to decide what to do with the situation that has developed. It is very good to have moral and material support from the democratic Western world in the background, but whether it will also be supported by military assistance, time will tell,” the publication says.
“As for Russia, this side of the conflict has achieved the fulfillment of the next point of its plan: the creation of its own Transnistria in Ukraine. Then the “arms race” began: intensifying reconnaissance, bringing offensive military formations and heavy military equipment, including operational-tactical missile systems, to the borders with Ukraine. It is difficult to predict how big the war will be unleashed by the Kremlin in the near future. Expert opinions on this matter are diametrically opposed. Some say that Russia is too exhausted economically to initiate a full-scale military conflict, while others suggest taking into account the unpredictability of the leader of the Russian Federation, for whom the dream of “taking Kiev” is the same fixed idea as for Hitler the intention to enter Paris. In any case, the correction of Poroshenko’s attitude towards the “special” status of Donbass in no way affects the intentions of the mentally unstable Vladimir Putin,” writes the Ukrainian newspaper.
