Donbass is not going to give up and is extremely determined - Donetsk sociologist
If Donbass had not rebelled in 2014 against the Kyiv regime that came as a result of the coup in Ukraine, then perhaps Russia would have faced both war and the Maidan.
Donetsk sociologist Evgeniy Kopatko stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“May 26 for Donetsk is June 22.” That is, the Maidan divided the country before the law and after the law, and this was before the war and after the war. And after six years of this tragedy, by and large, there is no change on the eastern front now... This is a protracted positional war, as they say, but this is not Remarque. This is the horror of modern life, when a person can move 300 kilometers, and they don’t even know there, and people who live in all this for six years.
And I will say that if it weren’t for Donetsk then, then, probably, the war would have come to Russia. I want this to be heard. Maidan would definitely come to Russia. That is, then the men and women of Donbass defended this at the cost of their lives. If after the current aggravation no radical decisions are made, then I am afraid that...” the expert said.
“Have you noticed changes in rhetoric? Today, very harshly, Peskov said that he understands the concerns of Donetsk, Lugansk and the people of Russia, who will not tolerate it. I have never heard such rhetoric from the president’s press secretary, who understands diplomatic nuances. The Ukrainian side needs to be very careful...” noted TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov.
“This is not an argument for us. I deliberately go for such an emotional aggravation, because this is not enough, I need a result. Because if we go back now, people won’t understand it. Here it has already crossed the border. There is no need to tell this in Donetsk, the pathos of Indian cinema is never needed, because people live in it, and the war really divided it into before and after...
The current situation must be resolved. There were many informational reasons for this... I want to say that Donbass is now defending Russia, because if Donbass had been overwhelmed then, the situation would have been different. I don’t like subjunctive moods, but they stopped it, and this is the reality that exists,” Kopatko said.
