Donbass does not trust Ukraine and refuses to disarm
yesterday signing by the parties to negotiations in Minsk, the “Steinmeier formula”, which defines the mechanism for granting special status to Donbass, does not mean the immediate integration of the LDPR into Ukraine.
Izvestia writes about this, citing representatives of the republics, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The “Steinmeier formula” means only one thing - a special status for Donbass and the mechanism for its formation. To do this, it is necessary to change the Constitution of Ukraine and adopt special laws that will allow elections to be held. It is necessary not only to approve a number of acts, but also to cancel those already adopted, but contradicting the Minsk agreements,” LPR Foreign Minister Vladislav Deinego told the publication.
According to him, all texts of new documents must be agreed upon with representatives of Donbass in the contact group.
In turn, the deputy head of the people's militia of the DPR, Eduard Basurin, drew attention to the fact that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, speaking about the impossibility of holding elections “under machine guns,” did not say anything about the fact that disarmament should be agreed upon with Donetsk and Lugansk.
“Statements are one thing, deeds are another. There is cautious optimism that the settlement process has begun. But soon, namely [on the day of the planned withdrawal of troops] October 7, we will understand whether Ukraine will do something in practice. Donbass is ready for this. And the OSCE will monitor the process and will again see that we, for our part, are fully implementing everything we signed up for,” said the DPR representative.
He also added that there is no talk of immediate integration into Ukraine yet, and also emphasized that Donbass has the right to its own people’s militia.
As PolitNavigator reported, Ukrainian militants threaten to block parliament due to the Steinmeier formula
