Donbass will not receive anything - Ukrainian Foreign Minister
In the new law on the special status of Donbass, Ukraine will not provide the region with any additional powers that distinguish it from other regions.
Foreign Minister Vadim Prystaiko stated this on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, Russia continues to demand not a general law on decentralization, but specific changes to the Constitution regarding the Lugansk and Donetsk regions.
“We offer these regions the changes that we are ready to offer to any Ukrainian region, additional rights. This is what is Ukraine’s negotiating position.
The Russian position is very simple - despite the fact that it is written in Minsk that a constitutional reform will be carried out, based on decentralization, Russia reads in this particular case the way it wants - only changes to the Constitution. We tell them: “Listen, now read Minsk, it says there what proposals can be made. These rights are exhaustive and will be limited by this law,” Prystaiko said.
