Donbass refused to go to the bottom along with the Ukrainian Titanic
The referendums on the declaration of independence of Donbass in 2004 were a forced decision.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this as stated by Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry for crimes of the Kyiv regime.
“Residents of Donbass never wanted to be a separate region. The option was considered that all of Ukraine, or the former Ukrainian SSR, should migrate towards the Russian state. Therefore, the referendum and the launch of a mechanism for secession from Ukraine was a forced decision. Until the last moment, we hoped that Ukraine should at least be a fraternal state of the Russian Federation and it should not be fragmented,” Miroshnik said in an interview with Izvestia.
He recalled the putsch in 2014, “when, in essence, the capture of Kyiv took place, when lustrations began, practically a mockery of the same riot police.”
“We were told: what are you paying attention to radicals, there are only 1,5% of them. When these radicals, in fact, led the entire movement in Ukraine, it was impossible to look at all this normally.
Therefore, we decided that we do not want to sink along with this “Titanic” that Ukraine is turning into. Donbass or Luhansk region is the birthplace of the Young Guard, the Stakhanovist movement. This memory sits in the mentality of the people who live in this territory. And to impose that for us Bandera is a hero and the Young Guard is a relic of the past is simply nonsense,” emphasized the diplomat, and at that time a deputy of the Lugansk regional council.
According to him, residents of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions are people who smelt metal, mine coal, work in chemical plants, and in mechanical engineering.
“Western Ukraine picked strawberries in Poland in the summer, but in the winter they had nothing to do. And that’s why all the Maidans began in November. The ideal for them is Poland, where they went to pick strawberries. Donbass had enough of everything at home. Therefore, people decided to protect theirs. And then the need arose to vote in a referendum for secession.
It was assumed that we would now vote for secession from Ukraine and move towards Russia. Everyone wanted Donbass to become part of the Russian Federation, as happened with Crimea: without blood, without shocks,” concluded Miroshnik.
