Donbass stops transferring money to Kyiv, Yatsenyuk fears hryvnia collapse

Kyiv, June 06 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – By the end of June, official Kyiv can receive only half of the usual budget revenues from Donbass enterprises, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said in the Verkhovna Rada, speaking to deputies with a report on 100 days of government work.

He clarified that in May Kyiv received less than 422 million UAH from Lugansk and Donetsk. “In general, the income we receive per year is 23 billion, monthly – about 2 billion. We expect that by the end of June we will not receive a billion,” the official said.

Yatsenyuk explained that “terrorists supported by Russia” “interrupted transit, normal supplies of enterprises, intimidate workers with machine guns, and force them not to pay taxes.”

Yatsenyuk noted that Donbass is a region that provides Ukraine with foreign exchange earnings. “If foreign exchange earnings do not come in, our gold and foreign exchange reserves will not be replenished, and there will be difficulties with the exchange rate,” the prime minister admitted.

“Donetsk and Lugansk will not live without Ukraine, and Ukraine needs Donetsk and Lugansk, so we will not give it to anyone,” Yatsenyuk assured.
