“3 thousand miners were evacuated. It was necessary to stop production and bring people to the surface due to the fact that as a result of military operations today, two high-voltage power lines belonging to NEC Ukrenergo were damaged. The only source of power supply for the entire Lugansk region from 12:30 to 17:32 was the Lugansk Thermal Power Plant,” the company’s press service said in a statement.
All miners of the operating mines of DTEK Rovenkianthracite and DTEK Sverdlovanthracite, who worked in the second shift, were taken to the surface. The third and fourth shifts will also not go underground.
“The evacuation took place in an orderly manner, as usual. Until the threat of blackout is eliminated, the mines will operate in life support mode (ventilation and pumping out water),” the press service noted.
Let us remind you that due to the fighting in the Lugansk region, five high-voltage power lines were damaged, some enterprises in Donbass are already de-energized. In addition, there are serious problems with electricity in Lugansk itself and, as a consequence, with drinking water.
