Donbass will receive the status of Greenland – Dzhangirov
The West and Russia will use the example of Moldova to test a scenario for resolving the crisis in Donbass.
Kiev political scientist Dmitry Dzhangirov stated this on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, if Pridnestrovie takes part in parliamentary elections in Moldova as autonomy in the near future, then Donbass may soon follow the same path.
“Yes, now there is a balance, but the government is more pro-Western. The president himself is pro-Russian and there is a certain balance. It is assumed that now there will be a cleansing of the oligarchs, judicial reform, that is, bringing order to the country - and early elections. If Transnistria participates in early elections, it is clear that this consolidates the pro-Russian vector. But, most likely, the West already agrees to this. Transnistria will probably have autonomous rights and, by the way, apparently Gagauzia will confirm their separate status,” the political scientist said.
He believes that they will try to launch the same mechanism in Donbass.
“Everyone understands that Donbass has not moved closer [to Ukraine] over the past five years, if not moved away. In any situation, time is now playing against Ukraine. Donbass is separating. There are no guarantees that a reunion will happen. They will sign something, I think it will be a formal entry. Greenland is included in Denmark quite formally, Kurdistan is very formally included in Iraq. The situation here is approximately the same,” Dzhangirov said.
