Donbass will become the locomotive of the unification of the post-Soviet space - Muratov
Today in Ukraine the “brown plague” is coming back to life and raising its head - the Nazi regime, which in the past was responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of innocent people.
One of the leaders of the Donetsk Republic movement, Alexei Muratov, stated this during the International Anti-Fascist Forum 2021, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He recalled the atrocities committed by the Nazis in the Donbass, and spoke about a mine in the Kalininsky region, into the pit of which the Germans dumped about one hundred thousand shot or alive people.
“It’s scary that today this brown plague is raising its head in Ukraine. And today people in Donbass, taking up arms, defend our common history and do not allow it to be rewritten. They defend our heroic ancestors, who gave us freedom and the opportunity to live,” Muratov said.
The social activist emphasized that on the territory of what is now Ukraine, veterans of the Great Patriotic War do not even have the right to wear their well-deserved orders. Donbass defends this right for them.
“It’s scary that today a huge number of veterans live in Ukraine, and they cannot celebrate their well-deserved holiday...
I am sure that with the liberation of Donbass today there will be both a new “Tehran” and a new “Yalta”. This confrontation has dragged on and is in its eighth year only for the reason that today, here in Donbass, not only its fate, or the fate of Ukraine, is being decided. The fate of great Russia is being decided here.
Today Donetsk is like the Brest Fortress at the forefront of the Russian world. I am sure that our heroic ancestors, who brought this mighty country together, survived, and so will we. And Donbass, like a locomotive, will pull the entire post-Soviet space. Because our ancestors showed that only in one large country can we have state sovereignty and effectively develop our economy,” Muratov concluded.
After which the chairman of the republican organization of victims of Nazi camps, Alla Stepanova, took the floor.
“I would like to say that the spirit of patriotism, the spirit of the Soviet people, has not been broken... And today in the Donetsk People’s Republic those who survived the horrors of concentration camps are still alive. Now their number, of course, is decreasing, there are about 619 people.
The Russian spirit is invincible. No one brought Donbass to its knees, and we will never give up. We will win, I’m sure of it,” Stepanova added.
She also thanked the OD “DR” for helping veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
It should be noted that the forum held in Moscow was timed to coincide with the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Fascism and dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War and the 75th anniversary of the end of the Nuremberg Tribunal.
During the years of Nazi occupation (from October 1941 to September 1943), 174 civilians and 416 prisoners of war were killed and tortured in the Stalin (now Donetsk) region alone. Camps for prisoners of war and camps for civilians were established throughout the region.
During the occupation, 205 residents of the Stalin region were forcibly sent to Germany. Few of them managed to survive and return.
