Among the residents who have come from all sides of the Donetsk People's Republic are veterans and children of war, in whose eyes there is deep sorrow for the losses, but at the same time the joy that they are remembered, that the great victory and great deeds have not been forgotten.
It is for them that today’s holiday is first and foremost, for them the concert, poems from the stage and scarlet carnations are a symbol of memory, courage and bravery.
There are also many militias - every now and then camouflage and flags of various battalions flash among those gathered. Those who took part in the battles for Saur-Mogila in August 2014, who defend their Motherland to this day from the punitive forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, are heroes of our time, brave descendants of their great ancestors.
Of course, the event was also attended by deputies of the People's Council, heads of cities and regions of the Donetsk People's Republic. Andrey Igorevich Darkovsky made a speech - acting. the head of the city of Snezhnoye, in which the Saur-Mogila memorial complex is located.
“Dear friends, dear veterans, I congratulate you on the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of Donbass from fascist punitive forces. Years go by, the heirs of the soldiers of victory here on this land repeated the feat of their fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers. Our republic has shown its desire for peace, for freedom, for creative work. About the fallen I will say this: there is no death, there is immortality. And thanks to all of us, our younger generation, no one will be forgotten, and nothing will be forgotten,” said Darkovsky.
All those present were able to lay flowers at the memorial plaque with the names of the fallen soldiers of the Soviet Army, as well as at the eternal flame - at the very top of the Saur-Mogila mound.
