Donbass is being lured to Ukraine by the powers of Catalonia
In order for the LPR and DPR to receive broad powers, Ukraine does not have to become a federation.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The expert noted that over the past few years, the essence of the special status has not been explained to the population of Ukraine, so the word federalization causes him concern.
“So that people get used to the fact that there is nothing wrong with this, that this is an element of self-government of citizens, which is very popular in Europe - after all, Europeans are not at all against this if we are talking about the fact that this is a single country. By the way, there is no need to even use the term federalization here. The point is that there is, for example, Spain, a unitary country, however, Catalonia and the Basque country have such a volume of rights that the DPR and LPR do not even ask for. That is, such autonomous formations are quite possible in a unitary country. They didn’t explain anything to people; they think that this is a threat of collapse. There is a much greater threat to adhere to the principle “we will force you,” Pogrebinsky said.
At the same time, in a referendum, the residents of Catalonia voted to secede from Spain, which was opposed by the central authorities.
