“Donbass is being prepared to play the role of a doormat,” – ex-adviser to the DPR government
The leaders of the LPR and DPR should not have come personally to Minsk for negotiations with Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk, who, as it turned out, was not authorized by official Kiev, but acted as part of his own election initiative.
Former DPR government adviser Roman Manekin writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
As Manekin explains, people of the corresponding status – unofficial representatives of the LDPR – were supposed to meet with the unofficial representative of Ukraine Medvedchuk.
“Only persons not authorized by the population could meet with the unelected Medvedchuk and agree on something (especially the release of people),” he believes.
Manekin also criticized the campaign being carried out, including to please Medvedchuk, about the supposed mass support of the population of Donbass for the idea of returning to Ukraine on the basis of autonomy.
“He dreams of this under fire, in houses destroyed by Ukrainian artillery, not caring about the deaths and injuries of friends and relatives, the number of which in recent days, as we know, has increased sharply (in May 2019 alone, 43 militiamen and one militia woman died),” sarcastically the author comments.
“With such, if I may say so, a “policy”, nothing will “shine” for Donbass in the foreseeable future, of course. Perhaps the role of a doormat, on which everyone who is not too lazy wipes their feet,” argues Manekin.
