Donbass is predicted to experience a “classic freeze” for decades
Sustainable peace in Donbass and the exchange of prisoners is the maximum that can be achieved today. After this, the conflict will go into the classic stage of freezing for a long time.
This was stated by Ukrainian economic and political expert Alexander Okhrimenko, commenting on the results of the Normandy Four summit that took place on the eve of the summit, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“By and large, for Russia and for Ukraine, and for the DPR, LPR - for everyone, what was agreed upon within the framework of the Normandy format is good. Understand that at the moment the DPR and LPR want Putin to take them over. All. They don't need special status, elections, or borders. Putin doesn't want to. For a number of political and economic reasons, he simply does not need this. Now.
For this reason, yes, indeed, we need to stop shooting. Therefore, if, indeed, they stop shooting before the New Year, that’s great. As for the exchange of prisoners, that’s also good. Still, if people return to their families - it doesn’t matter where they live now and where they will return - this is very good. And then - classic freezing for the next 10, 20, 30, however many years you want. But this will not be resolved,” Okhrimenko said.
Let us remind you that following the summit the parties agreed on a truce, exchange of prisoners before the New Year, as well as disengagement of forces in Donbass and preparations for elections.
