The event took place in the Pervomaisky square near Lenin Square in the city center. The portrait of the deceased pilot was installed near the “Russia” art object, near which those gathered laid red carnations.

The organizer of the meeting, Viktor Gushchin, an employee of the Ministry of Communications of the DPR, noted that today’s event is more than just an “action in honor of the deceased pilot”:

“We all see real heroes every day. The event that happened in Syria did not pass for us, people who know first-hand what war and the loss of loved ones are without a trace. We decided not to be indifferent and at least somehow show our position.

I don't think this is a "promotion". For me, and for everyone present here, this is something more. This is a tribute to memory and an opportunity to kneel before the heroes.

The main goal of the action is to remind people that real heroes are among us, and that they should be honored not only in such sad moments. We see many every day. And we can say that this is a kind of message to them - we know about them, we remember, they are not alone. Even though we are from the rear, we are working. And we work seriously,” said Victor.

Let us recall that the Russian pilot Roman Filippov died heroically in Syria on February 3 as a result of an attack on his attack aircraft.
