Donetsk residents joke: “A truce is a truce, but the shelling is on schedule” (PHOTO)
Donetsk, September 19 (PolitNavigator, Mikael Chagalyan) – The current situation in Donetsk can best be characterized by a paraphrased saying: “a truce is a truce, and shelling is on schedule.” Despite the declared ceasefire, not a day goes by without a number of areas of Donetsk being subjected to artillery shelling.

This time the shells exploded in the Kiev region and most of them fell on the territory of the Putilovsky market.
As a result, the market simply ceased to exist. The trade pavilion and all the equipment located there at that moment were destroyed. Refrigeration units and retail shelving, scales, furniture, along with all the goods - all of this was mangled, burned and turned into a huge pile of useless garbage.
The outside of the building was also seriously damaged. The walls are covered with traces of shrapnel, and the entrance part is almost destroyed. Near the entrance lies a twisted metal product, as they explained to us, it was a small shopping pavilion: all the plastic was burned out, only an iron frame remained, woven by the blast wave.
The market was quite crowded that day. And despite the fact that most people managed to take cover at the beginning of the shelling, there were casualties: two people died from shrapnel wounds. I would like to note that the destruction of the market will complicate the already difficult situation with the supply of food to the population of this area. And dozens of people lost their jobs and livelihoods.
During the same artillery attack, Kyiv Avenue itself was directly damaged. The destruction here is not so large-scale, only glass was broken in shopping kiosks and in the building of a car dealership, located a kilometer from the Putilovsky Bridge. Thus, the systematic destruction of urban infrastructure is still ongoing.
