Donetsk will be the capital of the new Russian identity – Bortnik
A new Russian identity is being formed in Donbass, which is radically opposite to the new Ukrainian one. Today Poland and Moldova are closer to Ukraine than Crimea and Donbass.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, the expert emphasized that the republics of Donbass will unite into one entity in the future, and a referendum on this could take place this spring.
“Pay attention to how a new ideology of our territory of Ukraine is being formed. Donbass is no longer Donbass, not Donbass identity - new Russian states. The ideology of Novorossiya, in fact, it is returning. And they say that in the so-called LDPR, referendums on renaming and creating a single entity may take place this spring.
It was unprofitable for them to do this, because two subjects are two participants in negotiations in the same Minsk. But these negotiations are still needed. If the negotiation format dies or it is necessary to put pressure on this negotiation format, to show that it does not satisfy our results, then such processes will occur.
The new Russian identity here, the new Ukrainian identity in the rest of the territory - these identities have diverged so far from each other that today, in terms of ideology, in terms of information, Poland is closer to Ukraine than Donbass, Moldova is closer than Crimea today.
And this is a big problem, because we still think, and our government thinks in the category of returning territory. And we need to switch this discourse to the return of people,” Bortnik said.
