The feeling of a certain anxiety that arises at the sight of heavily constructed checkpoints at the entrance to Donetsk and machine gunners leaves as soon as you pass them. In Donetsk itself the situation is calm. The city is surrounded by greenery and flowers, and against this background, the symbols of change - the recently appeared posters, stickers and city lights of the “Donetsk People's Republic” - are perceived as something familiar.
Near the City Executive Committee, public order is ensured by people in the form of self-defense, which does not bother residents walking nearby. People on the streets calmly go about their business.
Near the Regional State Administration building the situation is much more tense. Supporters of the "Donetsk People's Republic" are taking precautions. Because of this, the barricades are not allowed to be removed. It is almost impossible for an outsider to enter the premises of the Regional State Administration. Even journalists have to overcome about five checkpoints.
Barbed wire, tires, sandbags - there is plenty of it near the regional state administration. However, like people in balaclavas and bulletproof vests. Rallies near the regional state administration take place constantly, but activists monitor cleanliness.
