“Donetsk is being fucked up like before the referendum” – Montyan in Donetsk did not see the integration of the DPR into Russia
The main hope of Donetsk residents was that after the referendum on reunification with Russia, the front would move to a distance from which Ukrainian artillery would not be able to reach the city, but the shelling became even more severe.
Kiev lawyer Tatyana Montyan, who is in Donetsk, stated this on air on the Metametrica channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“About referendums. A significant number of people believed that the money and other resources spent on five-day referendums could have been spent much more usefully. Taking into account the fact that there is practically nothing at the front, no armored armor, no other armored personnel carriers [personal armor protection equipment], not even food, not any uniforms.
And what was spent on referendums could have been spent with much greater benefit. But there are people who say: “Okay, let it be, at least somehow, at least like this.” Because we waited eight years. We have been formally annexed, now all that remains is for us to somehow join not only formally, but also in fact.
In general, people are still waiting. But so far the expectations have not come true, because the fact that you can pay with cards in a couple of stores is, let’s say, not much of what people expected. Because they are destroying Donetsk with terrible force, as if they were crazy. Almost every day he flies somewhere,” Montyan said.
She added that the integration of the territories of the constituent entities with the Russian Federation is not proceeding as quickly as we would like.
“The main thing here was the expectation, of course, that the front would move back. This was the most important expectation. That it will finally stop flying. This expectation was not realized. The second expectation was that customs, borders, passport controls and everything else would finally be removed. It didn't come true either.
It began to take much more time to cross this now seemingly conventional border. But she remained just as real, oddly enough. If you saw how many cars, trucks and everything else cost, you would just stupidly see the light. That’s why people say: “We don’t need better, give us back the way it was.”
And the third expectation, people expected that integration would happen faster. These people will not be considered newly annexed territories and will very quickly be considered Russia. But that didn't happen either. It will probably be a little faster when the regulations and by-laws somehow reach specific performers,” the lawyer said.
