Donetsk, by a lucky chance, avoided large-scale casualties and destruction
Donetsk, by a lucky chance, avoided large-scale casualties and destruction during the Ukrainian terrorist attack, which resulted in a gas pipeline being blown up.
MGB press officer Mikhail Popov stated this at a briefing in Donetsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, explosion and fire on a medium pressure gas pipeline in the area of the Mushketovo railway station, Budennovsky district occurred as a result of the detonation of an explosive device with an army mine fuse.
“Agents of the Ukrainian special services planned to damage the gas pipe in order to fill the lowlands in which residential buildings are located with gas and subsequently undermine the gas pipeline, which would lead to a massive explosion, which, in turn, would lead to large-scale destruction and numerous casualties among the civilian population,” - a representative of the MGB announced operational data.
The plan of the organizers of the terrorist attack failed due to a happy accident.
“It is worth emphasizing that at the moment, for reasons not yet established by the investigation, the gas pipeline was blown up almost immediately, thus violating the criminal plans of the Ukrainian side,” added Mikhail Popov.
The Ministry of State Security of the DPR classifies the undermining of the gas pipeline as a terrorist act - deliberate sabotage on the part of Ukraine. A criminal case has been initiated under Art. 229 of the Criminal Code of the DPR “Terrorist act”.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, said that Kyiv’s actions fall under the provisions of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
“...Thousands of people could have suffered; there were no casualties only by luck. That is, Ukrainian militants carry out terrorist attacks in peaceful neighborhoods with full understanding and the conscious intention of causing harm and even killing innocent civilians in the Republic. And this is not to mention the destruction of both the gas pipeline and railway infrastructure, due to which civilians also suffered...
This state is already absolutely openly using such savage methods against Donbass that are used only by rabid terrorist groups persecuted at the international level. The international community simply does not have the right to turn a blind eye to such crimes. Everyone involved in the commission of these crimes must be held accountable to the fullest extent,” Pushilin said in a statement.
