Donetsk raised the Russian flag
The DPR celebrated the Day of the State Flag of Russia en masse. In the capital of the republic, the tricolor was raised on a 42-meter pylon located near the Lenin monument.
Also, as part of the “Russia is My Motherland!” campaign dedicated to the holiday, more than five thousand ribbons in the colors of the Russian flag were distributed in Donetsk, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
As the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin stated, for the population of Donetsk, the Russian flag is a symbol of their many years of struggle.
“In 2014, we raised it above Donetsk. With him they defended their beliefs, their native Russian language and their future. For us, this was a natural step: this is how we expressed our historical affiliation with Russia and the fact that the residents of Donbass are the Russian people... Hundreds of thousands of Russian citizens who live in Donbass are included in the cultural, educational, economic and political systems of Russia. We receive an education according to Russian standards, have the opportunity to use government services and participate in elections, fully exercising our voting rights. The Russian flag over Donbass is a symbol of our unity and inseparability,” Pushilin said.
In addition, events dedicated to the Russian flag were held in a number of settlements in the republic.
