On social networks, Donetsk residents first wrote about the powerful volleys that were heard in the Kalininsky district, and a few minutes later there were reports of hits on houses along Universitetskaya Street and Mira Avenue. The shells also hit the Centaur Plaza and Donbass Arena buildings. According to eyewitnesses, the city center is being shelled from Grad missiles. The Russian media, citing militias, report shelling from the Uragan.
The shelling of the city center is confirmed by the Donetsk mayor's office. “As of 18.30, the situation in Donetsk is extremely difficult. At 17.50, the city center – Voroshilovsky and Kyiv districts - came under fire,” the statement said.
According to preliminary data, residential apartment building No. 100 on Universitetskaya Street and an administrative building on Mira Avenue 10 were damaged.
