“Kyiv no longer respects the decision of the Geneva Conference. They refuse to withdraw troops from the territory of the Donetsk region. And in these conditions it is impossible to talk about concessions,” said one of the leaders of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, as quoted by the Donbass News publication.
In addition, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” made an official statement in which they noted a change in the West’s position and Kiev’s non-compliance with the agreements.
“We are pleased to note the change in the position of Western countries in relation to the Ukrainian events and support their understanding of the need to disarm all nationalist armed gangs that occupied administrative buildings and streets of Ukrainian cities.
We welcome this position, according to which the leadership of the Kyiv junta must immediately relinquish all power and vacate all government buildings in Ukraine that they took by illegal armed means, and return them to their former owners - legitimate representatives of the Ukrainian government,” the DPR said in a statement.
At the same time, the leadership of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” declares that it does not expect “not only the implementation, but even the imitation of the implementation by the Kyiv junta of these agreements.”
The junta understands “de-escalation” exclusively as the use of military force. Thus, on the day of the negotiations, the agenda of which cynically included “amnesty for all protesters,” representatives of the Kyiv junta captured several dozen more hostages from among the participants of the Donetsk resistance in Mariupol. All this leads to the assumption that no release of persons previously captured by the junta is planned and will not occur, which makes all the agreements reached meaningless,” the DPR stated.
In addition, the leaders of the Donetsk Republic focused on the “legal insignificance and political meaninglessness of the “all-Ukrainian” dialogue,” since it takes place without the participation of “legitimate representatives of the East of Ukraine and the Donetsk People’s Republic.”
In their opinion, the results of the negotiations are “a set of meaningless, poorly connected and practically impossible to implement calls, sent by someone unknown, unknown to whom, to be implemented in an unknown time frame and in an unknown manner.”
“Currently, they do not reflect either political realities or the new legal situation that arose after the proclamation of the sovereign Donetsk People’s Republic and do not have any legal force on the territory of the DPR,” says the official statement of the DPR Foreign Ministry.
Let us recall, as Navigator reported, yesterday in Geneva the participants in the quadripartite negotiations drew the contours of the path that, in the opinion of the Russian Federation, the United States and the EU, Kyiv should follow.
