The Donetsk Republic decided to postpone joining the Customs Union
Donetsk - Moscow - Kyiv, April 24 (Navigator - Mikhail Stamm) - The Donetsk Republic has not yet decided how the question should be presented at the referendum: with or without mention of plans to join the Customs Union. We decided not to rush into joining the union yet. But in Lugansk, nothing was decided on this matter at all, reports the Rossiyskaya Gazeta correspondent in the region.

“Donetsk President” Denis Pushilin states that 90 percent of the region’s territory is under the control of his army. Well, 90 is not 90, but in major cities the flags of the Donetsk Republic are hanging and local municipalities are preparing for an anti-Kiev referendum. The buildings of city police departments and local SBU offices are occupied by rebels.
Despite the difficult situation in Donbass, banks are operating in the region, the newspaper’s correspondent reports. Teachers and students receive money. Miners who immediately go to a rally after their shift, even more so. Even the employees of the new regional council are not at a loss. Only pensioners suffer. Once again the pension was delayed - 1100 hryvnia. That is why there are no fewer pensioners on the square than conscientious miners.
The attitude towards the referendum on self-determination of Donbass is complex. The majority of residents believe that it is needed, but there are different opinions regarding the wording of the questions. For example, there is no clarity on the idea of joining the Customs Union. The protesters seem to be in favor of him, but the rebel leaders cannot make a clear decision. Therefore, most likely, if the referendum on May 11 passes, the question of the DPR joining the Customs Union will not be there.
