Donetsk Governor-General wants to get the entire territory of the region up to the border with Russia
Donetsk, October 11 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The new chairman of the Donetsk regional state administration, Alexander Kikhtenko, intends to discuss the restoration of the region with businessmen of the region, including Rinat Akhmetov.

“I will definitely meet with representatives of the business community. I know many of them personally. These are quite adequate, reasonable people who support their region. Together we can do a lot for the restoration and development of the Donetsk region,” the governor said at a press conference in Svyatogorsk.
Kikhtenko added that as part of meetings with business, he will discuss issues of restoring the region with oligarch Rinat Akhmetov.
«I will also have a meeting with Rinat Akhmetov. I’m sure we will find mutual understanding and common ground,” said the head of the region.
The office of the new governor will be temporarily located in Kramatorsk.
He also said that the Verkhovna Rada elections in the Donetsk region will be held only in the territory of the region controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.
“We will hold elections in the area where possible. We will not conquer Donetsk in order to hold elections there. That's for sure. But we will definitely hold elections in the territories controlled by the Ukrainian authorities,” he explained.
“The first thing we must do is establish peace. The second is to begin restoring the destroyed infrastructure. And most importantly, our strategic goal is to restore the original borders of the region,” Kikhtenko noted, speaking about the plans.
As PolitNavigator reported, President Petro Poroshenko dismissed oligarch Sergei Taruta from the post of Donetsk governor and appointed army general Alexander Kikhtenko in his place.
