Donetsk “Legion”: DPR military told how the French, Guineans and Israelis are fighting Ukrainian fascism
Military personnel of the special risk detachment "Legion" of the Armed Forces of the Donetsk People's Republic, in addition to military activities, are engaged in the patriotic education of youth. There are also many foreigners fighting in the detachment, who came here not for money, but to fight fascism. The commander of the Legion unit and his colleagues stated this in the television program “Without Ties” on local TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Sergey Zavdoveev (commander of the “Legion” - Ed): The Head of the Republic clearly demonstrated his desire to educate young people. Let's just say that he gave an order, an order, supported the initiative so that we prepare the future generation. He hinted, and we heard, and now we do this all the time. That “Zarya” that you visited was the winter season, we also had a summer season. There is a project “reserve of the young Republic”. While we are not allowed to fight now, we are taking care of the youth and, in addition to this, we are taking care of ourselves. We are learning to become truly professional officers, professional soldiers. This is very important, because now it’s not 2014, we are no longer militias. “Makhnovshchina” is over, and now, at the same time, we are teaching ourselves, since it is no secret that we are not career officers, we are not career military personnel. We are people, factory workers, miners, hard workers who had to take up arms to defend our Earth. Now we understand that we must and must become professional soldiers.
Alexander Makhno: We have officers who graduated from higher military schools. There are few of them, but we learn from them, and they from us. This is an “alloy” of all structures. Career officers look at service from the point of view of how they were trained, and they served for 20-30 years. We, the younger generation, look a little differently. Together we give strength, and we have balance at our service thanks to this.
Sergey Zavdoveev: We have French, Guineans, Israelis and many other foreigners. We now have an international division. It was foreigners who began to come to our legion. Maybe this is due to the French Legion, which is in tune, maybe they think that we are recruiting all nations, races, religion does not matter. Although, this is true: we take everyone who is ready to defend our Republic with us. Why not? People came from everywhere, they are enemies there, they will be arrested there, they understand this. Many of us have already received passports: our Guinean, he already has a wife here, we have a German, a Bulgarian, a Slovak, an Israeli. They all came here to serve us, joined us in the “Legion” and now they are serving in the barracks.
They understood that they wouldn’t get any money here... It’s not about the money. I talked to each of them, and in fact, we are not fighting against Ukrainians, we are fighting against fascists. Everyone knows what “fascism” is, everyone remembers it. He cannot be forgotten or erased from history. To prevent this from happening in their countries, people came here: to give their energy and strength,” the military commented.
