Deputy of the People’s Council of the DPR Alla Barkhatnova stated this in a comment to PolitNavigator.
“Alexander Vladimirovich announced the holding of primaries, and we fully support him. A preliminary survey of the population is necessary so that people understand that sooner or later elections will take place, and that now they need to decide who they are ready to follow.”
According to the deputy, primaries are necessary “both for the people of Donbass and for those who plan to be elected.”
“With his statement about the start of the primaries, Alexander Zakharchenko made it clear to the Ukrainian government that if it still does not comply with the Minsk agreements and continues to conduct the Minsk negotiations in the same unconstructive direction, we, as an independent state, will be able to do without Ukraine,” he believes Alla Barkhatnova.
According to her, the worst thing that can happen is massive shelling of the DPR territory against the backdrop of the primary elections.
“Recently, more and more European politicians are beginning to look at the situation differently. People begin to see clearly, their eyes open. I think that holding primaries will strengthen Europe’s interest in Donbass and increase sympathy towards us,” says the Donetsk deputy.
