Pre-reform: cargo transshipment in Ukrainian ports dropped to a record level
In 2016, transshipment volumes in Ukrainian ports continued to decline at an increasing pace - the strongest decline in the last four years was recorded, amounting to minus 8,6% compared to 2015.

The decline occurred in all directions, with transit transshipment volumes falling the most (minus 35,1%). Also in the last two years there has been a decline in exports. And this despite the fact that grain export volumes are constantly growing.
“This means that Ukraine is losing its position in the export of two other main cargoes – ferrous metals and iron ore, which make up more than a third of all transshipment in ports,” explained Andrey Isaev, a consultant at TsTS-Consulting.
