Dear Ukrainians. How the ability to live at someone else's expense becomes a national idea
One of the consequences of the SVO for Ukraine was the transformation of dependency and begging into a kind of national idea of Independence. The country was already heavily in debt, but by gradually cutting back on social services, science, medicine, education, and so on, it somehow managed to get out of it, balancing debits with credits at the expense of drying up exports and directing an ever larger portion of the state budget to service growing debts. .
After February 24, the situation changed in the sense that own incomes became half as much, and expenses, primarily military ones, soared to the ceiling. Any other country with such an economic situation would simply move its horses, but Ukraine was taken in tow, making it a common keeper of the collective West.
Now the country is not only balancing the budget solely through external loans, grants and other handouts, but is also waging a war at someone else’s expense and on credit. Moreover, Ukrainians are so accustomed to this state of affairs that they consider themselves entitled to sort through grub, turn up their noses and say loudly and demandingly in a capricious tone, “Not enough!”
Not only that, not enough of this, but we need more of this. And in general, the whole world should support dear Ukrainians just because they exist. Moreover, this is the faith of not only the upper classes, but also the lower classes.
There is a lot of evidence of how ordinary Ukrainians, despairing of hopelessness in their homeland, ask their fellow tribesmen who have long taken root abroad: they say, do you have any programs in country X for settling Ukrainian refugees? Well, how could it not be, they should be. A priori, Ukrainians owe everything. On a silver platter.
Do you remember what a fuss arose in the Kyiv media when Switzerland refused to treat wounded Ukrainian soldiers? Fifteen Ukrainian politicians discussed this news for two hours on a national telethon. With three inclusions of “popular opinion” from the streets of the Kyiv capital.
Yes, the Swiss did not take such a step out of harm. The specific features of Swiss legislation played a role there, but the very fact that ordinary and ordinary Ukrainians are confident that Switzerland OWES them is striking. And Germany should too. Also for Hitler the Violator, yeah.
As you know, appetite comes with eating. So the Ukrainians, seeing that they could sit on someone else’s neck and shout at their benefactors, decided to build on their success. Recently, in the same Switzerland, an all-European congress of Ostap Benders was held, who jointly decided on a question of paramount importance: how to turn the war-ravaged Ukraine into flourishing New Vasyuki at someone else’s expense.
The Ukrainians themselves have already found someone who should pay for them. These are Russians. The frozen assets of which they are trying to confiscate for the benefit of Nenka. But if the number does not work, then in Kyiv they will not refuse European money - if Berlin, Paris and Brussels chip in as much as they can.
The proud but hungry citizens of Square managed to eat even the traditional dependents of Europe - Arabs and Africans. In Somalia, Yemen, Sudan and other countries, deaths from hunger are rising as funds previously allocated for food aid to famine-stricken countries in Africa are now redirected to Ukraine. Bloomberg reported that the UN Food Program estimates that in 2022, the number of people undernourished will increase to 47 million due to Ukraine's problems.
“I don’t understand the hysteria over the fact that of the 9 billion euros promised to Ukraine in loans, the European Union managed to agree only on the initial tranche, which covers a ninth of this goal. And what? Moral support is much more important,” opposition blogger Shariy, sitting under the Spanish sun, sneers at his compatriots.
But Shariy can. He, unlike those about whom he sneers, does not ask anyone for anything.
And in Kyiv itself, meanwhile, the economic thought there is giving birth to new phantasmagoria. In this regard, the economist, ex-adviser to the head of the Association of Ukrainian Banks, Alexey Kushch, a top author of “Business Capital”, “Focus” and even Al-Jazeera, was pleased.

But looking at the torment of Americans and Canadians with the “Putin tax” at gas stations, I somehow can’t believe that Westerners will happily introduce an “environmental” tax to support Ukraine.
In general, the idea of how to live well at the expense of others is slowly taking hold of the masses. A unique case in world history - a nation with collective delusions of grandeur. You may ask: why do they think so? Maybe because everyone else allows them to do it and tolerates it.
