Dear Savchenko: the European Parliament is already waiting for Sentsov to give a speech
The European Parliament is looking forward to meeting with director Oleg Sentsov, who until today was detained in Russia.
Rikard Jozwiak, a journalist from the Brussels branch of Radio Liberty, wrote about this in his microblog on Twitter.
“European People’s Party spokesman (Michael) Galer said they are looking forward to meeting personally with the Sakharov laureate in the Senate in 2018 at the European Parliament at the first opportunity,” the journalist wrote.
On October 25, 2018, during the plenary session of the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg, President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani announced Oleg Sentsov the winner of the annual Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought.
As PolitNavigator reported, today at the Boryspil airport, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky met 35 Ukrainians who were being held in the Russian Federation as part of the exchange of detainees between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. Among them is Oleg Sentsov.
Several years ago, the same story happened with Nadezhda Savchenko, released from a Russian prison, who also flew to speak in the European Parliament.
