We got it: Russia will reduce transit through Ukraine by 5 times
Russia plans to reduce gas transit through Ukraine by five times over the next two to three years. Director of the National Energy Security Fund Konstantin Simonov spoke about this today on the Vesti FM radio station.

“We built Blue Stream, Nord Stream, a pipeline through Belarus. This process continues. If we complete the construction of two lines of the Turkish Stream, we build two lines of Nord Stream 2, we still have a technical volume of gas that we will still have to pump through Ukraine. We estimate it at 15-20 billion cubic meters. For comparison, last year we pumped 93 billion cubic meters through Ukraine,” Simonov said.
According to him, Gazprom is now breaking contracts with Naftogaz of Ukraine in order to conclude new contracts with a much smaller transit volume. At the same time, the market of Ukraine itself, the expert claims, is of no interest to the Russian monopolist.
“The Ukrainian market collapsed because deindustrialization began in Ukraine, which was expressed in a sharp reduction in gas consumption. Since Ukraine consumes Russian gas in reverse, this has no overall effect on our supplies,” Simonov said.
