They got it: Ukraine has become one of the worst countries for pensioners
Pensioners in Ukraine are much poorer than in neighboring countries, while the standard of living of Ukrainian elders continues to deteriorate.
This was announced at a press conference in Kyiv by Svetlana Zhovnir, a senior researcher at the department of socio-economic problems of labor at the Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“For example, the average pension in Ukraine in 2015 was slightly more than 50 US dollars, while in our closest neighbors in European countries, Bulgaria – 140 dollars, Poland – 440 dollars, in countries such as Germany and Finland – even more, 1,5 .2-XNUMX thousand dollars.
A very threatening trend in recent years is the spread of poverty among pensioners. This can be said based on international ratings. The fact that millions of Ukrainian pensioners have found themselves below the poverty line in recent years can be seen from the international rating of the effectiveness of pension systems, the Global Age Watch Index. Thus, out of 96 countries, Ukraine dropped from 66th place in 2013 to 73rd place in the overall index. This is one of the worst indicators in Eastern European countries, only Moldova is worse, it is in 77th place.
In the same ranking, in terms of the health status and quality of the social environment of older people, Ukraine ranks 85th,” says the expert.
