“Another no less serious reason is the election as a way to get out of the Minsk Protocol, which is supposedly beneficial to Russia and the unrecognized republics, but disadvantageous to Ukraine. Overseas partners may well “ask” the president to take this step in order to free up another half a year for maneuvers and pressure on the Russian Federation,” explained the political observer.
