“We got it!” – a daring pro-Belarusian action took place in Lithuania
A protest rally against the closure of the Belarus sanatorium by the Lithuanian government took place today in Vilnius.
This was reported by the ONT TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
A protest convoy of 70 cars drove through the city. The movement was led by the mayor of Druskinikai, Richardas Malinauskas.
The participants of the action visited the walls of all institutions and organizations that became participants in the administrative terror against the sanatorium: the bank where the accounts were frozen, the presidency, the office of the prime minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Sejm.
After the sanatorium’s accounts were frozen in January, 400 people (mainly Lithuanians) lost their salaries. The workers are threatening to go on a hunger strike, in which not only the victims themselves, but also their families intend to take part.
The government insists that this is about implementing a European strategy of sanctions against Belarus, but there is no sanatorium on the EU page that lists companies subject to sanctions.
In Belarus, more than 13 thousand people undergo rehabilitation annually, including more than 6,5 thousand children and disabled children.
The EU has already adopted three packages of sanctions against Belarus. The first, which was adopted on October 2, included 40 Belarusian officials - security officials (representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the KGB) and members of the Central Election Commission, in respect of whom personal restrictions were introduced.
The second package of sanctions was adopted on November 6: the European Union introduced restrictions against Alexander Lukashenko and 14 high-ranking officials. On December 17, the European Union adopted a third package of sanctions against 29 people and seven legal entities. The fourth package of sanctions is now being prepared.
