We waited: Yatsenyuk brought Ukraine to default

This paradox was pointed out during a press conference in Kyiv by the former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov, who today acts as an independent analyst on finance and economics.
“Literally yesterday or the day before yesterday, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance announced the possibility of a default,” the economist noted. – I would like to remind you that earlier, to quote Armeniy Petrovich, he unequivocally answered questions about a possible default every time: “You won’t wait.” But it turns out that they waited. The Prime Minister has also repeatedly expressed the view that there will certainly be restructuring and debt write-off, persistently emphasizing that this will certainly be done on the terms of the Ukrainian government. That is, constantly demonstrating surprisingly harsh rhetoric towards creditors.”
The analyst also touched upon the statement of Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalya Yaresko, who complained that the owners of Ukraine’s sovereign commercial debts “refuse to contribute to the restoration of Ukraine.”
“That is, they are obliged to contribute to the restoration of Ukraine, and therefore bear responsibility for the default,” Viktor Suslov noted ironically. “They refused to hold substantive negotiations for three months, and she ends with the fact that “Ukraine has already paid a high price for its European future” and “the burden of the financial and economic situation should not fall solely on the people of Ukraine.” But some burden must still fall on the government.”
