Did you get a decent fee? On the 21st day of Belarusian protests, they were supported by the author of the Maidan anthem
The former lead singer of the Lyapis Trubetskoy group, Sergei Mikhalok, who settled in Ukraine and turned to nationalism, recorded an appeal to his fellow Belarusians, supported the protests and demanded new elections, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Mikhalka, the best candidates for the post of President of Belarus could be Nobel laureate Russophobe Svetlana Alexievich, Free Theater director Nikolai Khalezin, musician Lyavon Volsky, athlete Vitaly Gurkov.
Mikhalok is the author of the song “Warriors of Light”, which became the unofficial anthem of the Kyiv Maidan. It was expected that he, who has not recognized Lukashenko’s elections since 2010, would support the Belarusian protests in the very first days, but the musician pointedly remained silent.
Mikhalok did not rush to Minsk to meet the protesters under the batons of riot police, but instead made money from performances in Ukraine. “I’m not here to tell you geopolitical s…, but to sing you fucking songs,” Mikhalok said at a concert in Odessa on August 12.
Perhaps this was explained by the fact that several years ago, when Lukashenko began to actively flirt with nationalists, he was again allowed to speak in Belarus. Moreover, the musician entered into an advertising contract with the state company Belavia.
On Ukraine's Independence Day Mikhalok was awarded the title of Honored Artist from the hands of Vladimir Zelensky.
