Survived: foreigners put together gangs of burglars in Kyiv
Police detained several foreign citizens in Kyiv who were committing burglaries in the Ukrainian capital, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Kyiv police communications department reported this on Monday.
According to the report, employees of the criminal investigation department of the Shevchenko police department, together with colleagues from the capital’s headquarters, were working out operational information about the activities of a group of people “specializing” in burglaries. After establishing the location, the police began to monitor their actions.
Law enforcement officers noticed how four men drove up in cars to a house on Ivan Kramskoy Street. One of the arrivals remained on the street, and three of them entered two apartments in a few minutes, from where they stole money and mobile phones. Leaving the house, the men saw law enforcement officers, so they quickly got into their cars and began to run away.
“During the escape, the offenders damaged two cars parked on the side of the road. The fugitives were detained and taken to police headquarters. In addition to the stolen items, a set of master keys was also seized from them,” the report said.
Three defendants were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The attackers turned out to be citizens of another state, born in 1989, 1990 and 1970. Investigators also interviewed their co-driver.
The investigative department of the Shevchenko police department opened two criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 185 (theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrators face up to six years in prison. Law enforcement officers are checking the detainees for involvement in committing similar crimes on the territory of Kyiv.
The message does not indicate which country the detainees are citizens of.
