Fights, tear gas and smoke bombs: Poroshenko’s visit to Vinnitsa turned into a fight between the National Corps and the police
Activists of the “National Corps” and “National Squads” staged a mass protest march in the center of Vinnitsa during the visit of President Petro Poroshenko to the city, but the action quickly escalated into a brawl with the local police, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The nationalists blocked traffic on the Khmelnitsky highway and, shouting the slogan “Pigs behind bars!”, with posters “No to the gunpowder suckers!” and with severed pig heads they headed to the meeting place between Poroshenko and voters.
However, as the National Corps reports on its Telegram channel, five hundred meters from the stage the police blocked their path, after which a scuffle broke out between the radicals and law enforcement officers, as a result of which three protesters were detained and taken to the police station.
During the clashes, nationalists burned flares and smoke bombs, shouting: “Together to the end!” The police responded with tear gas.
After the arrests, the radicals went to the building of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Vinnytsia region with a demand to release the detainees, but a police cordon was already waiting for them there.
It is noteworthy that after this action, the official page of the Vinnytsia National Corps on Facebook was blocked, which the organization reported on its Telegram channel.
