Lukashenko's drift towards Moscow will leave Ukrainian tanks without diesel
The rapprochement of Belarus with Russia could result in big problems for Ukraine.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Zolotarev stated this on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The expert emphasized that the processes taking place in the neighboring republic indicate that Belarus will “drift” towards Russia, and Ukraine may lose supplies of cheap fuel and find itself without a negotiating platform in Minsk and transport logistics to Russia through the territory of Belarus.
“The drift of the “father” towards Russia is absolutely obvious and inevitable. This will be a very big problem for Ukraine. Firstly, in economic terms, because from whose production did the fuel supplied to the Armed Forces, what were our tanks fueled with? From the Mozur oil refinery, which is located not far from our borders.
Accordingly, if the Russian presence and Russian influence on politics increases, then this is a faucet that can be closed at any moment. Or prices will be (higher). Logistics – they still fly through Minsk to Moscow. Let's not forget that Minsk is a negotiating platform for Donbass...
Ukraine’s interest is for Belarus to be a relatively stable, calm country with which we have good economic and political relations,” Zolotarev said.
