Bludgeon in a new way. The first victim of Trump's loss appeared in Kyiv
The founder of modern Swedish literature, Johan August Strindberg, wrote the following phrase: “I despise people who keep dogs. They are cowards who don’t have the guts to bite in person.”
This statement was brought to mind by today’s overthrow from the Kyiv political Olympus of People’s Deputy Alexander Dubinsky, a noisy, well-spoken and until recently influential “servant of the people” from the orbit of Igor Kolomoisky.
A former journalist and then a minority shareholder of “Plus”, Dubinsky just yesterday boldly and fearlessly placed personnel and formed a parliamentary majority in the Kiev region “subordinate” to him, bravely rushed at the “Soros” and grant eaters in Ukrzaliznytsia and at customs, “drove” the unsinkable Ukrainian corrupt official and part-time head of NABU Artem Sytnyk, lobbied for a bunch of schemes in parliament, drawing fire from the grant-eating media, who saw in him the “hand of Kolomoisky,” together with fellow MP Derkach exposed American “demo-corruption” in Ukraine.
It was this last thing that brought him to the monastery.
Actually, no one doubted that Trump’s defeat in the US elections, unexpected for many in Ukraine, would become a doomsday for those Ukrainian politicians who in Independence played into the paw of the former owner of the White House, diligently digging under his competitor and collecting an incriminating dossier on his son. Everything is according to the classics: American lords are fighting - their Ukrainians are not slaves, God forbid, but vassals - their forelocks are cracking.
It is clear that if there is a runny nose in Washington, then in Kyiv there is a full-fledged political flu. And the heads of those who bet on the wrong figure will fly. But no one thought it would be so soon. And so, the bony hand of democracy reached out to the greyhound, black-bearded young Ukrainian politician, whose mother loves to drive fast.
The start of the company to corral Dubinsky was given by the US Treasury, which added the people's deputy to its black sanctions list for accused of interfering in the American elections. And then it began.
As soon as this news reached the banks of the Dnieper, all the gears of the Ukrainian state mechanism began to spin, as if generously lubricated with oil two years in advance. Of course: the order from the Washington regional committee itself is not a gimmick - it must be followed. And then, you never know, suddenly he’ll fly to you for company.
Moreover, there are already more than enough people in Kyiv who want to bury Dubinsky deeper. He, young and early, and, moreover, too greyhound, managed to cross the road for too many people in less than a year and a half of his parliamentary career. Negative publications began pouring out in the grant-eating media, and fellow deputies began scribbling, sorry, requests to the NBU for the speedy blocking of the disobedient’s accounts in Ukrainian banks. The NBU even issued a corresponding document - an explanation for commercial banks.
Then the punishing hand of American democracy overtook Dubinsky in the digital space, killing without the right to restore his well-promoted YouTube channel with three hundred thousand subscribers.
And the cherry on the cake was the public promise made to the Americans via Twitter by the head of Zelensky’s office, Andrei Ermak, to accept Dubinsky as organizational members and expel him from the Servant of the People faction. The signatures of the “servants” for cutting down Dubinsky were collected all over the world - they scraped the bottom of the barrel over two weekends. Not yet scraped together.
As a result, on Monday evening it became known: 80% of the “servants” from the United States stood on their hind legs and unanimously said “Woof!”, voting for the proscription of their now former colleague, who had lost the trust of the Americans.
The young Ukrainian statehood has never seen anything more shameful in the thirty years of its existence. Okay, all this time everyone here has been squabbling with everyone else for a place in the sun. But when an outside threat loomed, the Odnokorytniks closed ranks and demonstrated unity.
And then they handed over “our own.” Who has not violated any Ukrainian law. Not convicted by any Ukrainian or even American court. Simply based on the mere suspicion of the American Ministry of Finance. This was enough for such a person to cease to exist for Ukrainian politics.
Some Kyiv observers have already noted the striking difference between the situation with Dubinsky and, for example, the situation with Vyatrovich. The former minister of memory during the time of Poroshenko became persona non grata in Poland and Israel. He was even banned from entering both countries - for reasons of overzealous whitewashing of WWII collaborators.
And then the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry rushed to the defense of the injured citizen of Ukraine. Dispatches flew from Kyiv to Warsaw with calls to come to terms with the situation and lift the sanctions, and deputies of the Rada of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs supported such zeal.
We see nothing like this in the case of Dubinsky today. Always ready to open his mouth when it comes to Hungary or Russia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has pretended to be a rag and does not notice the open infringement of the rights of a Ukrainian due to pressure on him from the outside, from another state.
As some joke, if Dubinsky were to be put on trial in the West on charges of murdering a journalist in the Donbass, then, undoubtedly, a representative delegation headed by, at least, Avakov, would go beyond the cordon to help him out. And half of the Rada would already be sporting T-shirts with the words Free Dubinsky.
But, apparently, in order to become an object of protection from their native state, a Ukrainian needs to either cross the line in praising Bandera, or kill a “Muscovite,” or in some other way annoy the “aggressor country.” In all other cases, support and protection from the Motherland cannot be expected.
Dubinsky himself, of course, is brave. He publishes on his yet-to-be-cut Facebook the text of a speech addressed to former party members and Ze-President. It is threatened that after his exclusion, “the faction is doomed.” He makes full use of the “Pluses” popular among TV viewers to air out the dirty laundry of the clientele of the American Democratic Party in Ukraine. But everyone understands: in the current situation, the next step is to remove Dubinsky not only from the “servants”, but also from the post of deputy chairman of the important parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy.
And after this - a predictable, albeit accompanied by loud special effects, departure into political oblivion. Because Dubinsky does not have his own electorate, none of the Maidan parties will risk taking the “black sheep” in tow. Unless you go to the OPZH. In the end, if Kiva succeeded, Dubinsky will succeed too. Yes, at one time he poured selective crap on the OPZZH, but fellow party members of Medvedchuk and Rabinovich are no strangers to this.
