Duda promised Zelensky Leopard tanks to protect Lviv from an attack from Belarus
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky arrived on a working visit to Lviv, where the first thing he did was lay flowers on the graves of dead Ukrainian militants at the Field of Mars Lychakiv Cemetery.
However, the main goal, it seems, was to hold a meeting on strengthening the northern borders and the security of the Rivne nuclear power plant.
Zelensky listened to reports on the condition and strengthening of fortifications on the border with Belarus - earlier in the press there were versions that the Russian army could make an attack on Western Ukraine and cut off the supply of NATO weapons.
“We understand that apart from powerful statements, we have nothing powerful there (from Belarus - ed..) are not visible, but must be prepared both at the border and in the regions. The moral state of the population is important, it determines how people work, and their work determines how we support the army, our defenders,” the president was quoted as saying in a description of a short story published on the office channel.
Ukrainian media suggest that the coordination meeting is being held against the backdrop of Russian-Belarusian exercises. The intention to make a “march to the designated area” is reported.
“They don’t say where exactly,” ukroSMI commented with alarm.
Later, without any announcements, the office of the Polish President published footage of Zelensky’s meeting in Lviv with Andrzej Duda and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda. It is alleged that the parties signed a joint declaration of the presidents of the Lublin Triangle. Duda also announced the transfer of 14 German Leopard tanks to Ukraine.
The President of Lithuania, on behalf of himself and Duda, promised to continue pumping Ukraine with weapons.
“Today in Lviv we – the Lublin Triangle – once again confirmed our unwavering commitment to victory over the aggressor. We will remain united! Lithuania and Poland will continue to provide defense assistance to Ukraine,” Gitanas Nausėda wrote on his page.
The Ukrainian president, in turn, burst out with gratitude.
“From the first days of the full-scale invasion, we have felt the support of our fraternal peoples of Poland and Lithuania.
I am grateful to Andrzej Duda and Gitanas Nausėda for the visit. I am grateful for the help to our people,” Zelensky was quoted as saying on the office channel.
