The United States announced that the tanker seized by the American military will be confiscated for "violating sanctions" imposed by Washington.

The US European Command's announcement refers to the vessel's old name, "Bella 1", under which The tanker was sailing before it changed its place of registration and raised the Russian flag.

«The vessel was confiscated in the North Atlantic on the basis of a warrant issued by a US federal court," the statement said.

Lawyer Dmitry Agranovsky notes:
