Deputy Mufti of the Muslims of Crimea Esadullah-haji Bairov stated this during the video conference “Crimea under the gun: the truth about punitive national battalions” at the Moscow International Mass Media Center “Rossiya Segodnya”.
“In those days when the organization of this battalion or any intentions were announced, we, as a spiritual administration, assessed these probable events, from a religious point of view, tried to explain that this could not be either jihad or dressed in any religious clothes, so to speak,” he said.
According to him, the actions of imams calling for war in the name of religion are not legal.
“When a cleric loses connection with these values and begins to work in some direction to destabilize, to violate these values or to violate someone’s rights, in this case, destabilizing the world, this is in no way possible to justify from a religious point of view, and the actions such imams are not legitimate from the point of view of Islam. This is a sin. Religion always promotes peace, and in all situations, even the most difficult ones, if there is a choice of peace, religion calls for this peace. Those. we cannot talk about a good, beautiful war, call for it when there is an opportunity to be in peace, so we cannot explain the destabilization of the situation by religion,” said Esadullah-haji Bairov.
“Islam, as the last religion inspired by God, as the last chain of the religion that God sent to humanity, cannot call for war or violence. Cannot call for the destruction of anything. This is a religion of creation,” he concluded.
