The Duma abolished “bank roaming” in the first reading

The State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the first reading a bill on the abolition of so-called “bank roaming,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was reported on the parliament’s page on the VKontakte social network.

The developers of the bill claim that the innovations they propose will help eliminate interregional discrimination among consumers of banking services.

“You transfer money to your mother from Moscow to Tver and pay a commission every time? It seems that this is unfair, because there is one bank, but the regional branches are different,” this is how the essence of the proposed innovations is explained on the Duma’s page on the social network.

Currently, some banks set an increased commission for transactions on interregional transfers between individual accounts opened in the same credit institution, compared to intraregional transfers.

The Duma claims that legislative changes will ensure freedom of movement of money in the Russian financial market and the development of non-cash payments.
