The owner of the Telegram messenger, Pavel Durov, did not block three channels of the Belarusian Maidan activists, on which the personal data of law enforcement officers and other citizens whom the opposition considers “accomplices of the regime” are illegally published.

Durov wrote about this in his telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to him Apple Corporation, which demanded the closure of channels, used “cunning language” that ignored the fact that “the channels consist entirely of the personal information of the oppressors and those who helped rig the elections - that’s why these channels exist.”

“By hiding its requirements in vague phrases, Apple is trying to avoid responsibility for complying with its own rules. Previously, when posts were deleted based on requests from Apple in Telegram, these posts were replaced with a notification indicating a rule to limit such content for iOS users. But some time ago, Apple contacted us and stated that our application could not show such notifications to users because they were “inappropriate.”

I strongly disagree with Apple's definition of "inappropriate." But it’s time for Apple to learn to take responsibility for its own policies, and not try to hide them from users - people deserve the right to know this,” Durov wrote.

For their part, telegram channels supporting Belomaidan issued a petition in support of their colleagues publishing personal data of security forces.

“Such channels are practically the only tool of the Belarusian people to prevent unpunished violence by security forces against peaceful protesters. Collecting information about people carrying out criminal orders is extremely important for the subsequent assessment of their actions in the independent courts of Belarus,” the petition says.

The channels “Black Book of Belarus” (100 thousand subscribers) and “Punisher of Belarus - names, addresses, relatives” (10 thousand subscribers) published personal data of riot policemen and members of their families, judges, government officials and teachers of Belarusian universities who “campaigned for the Russian world." All of them were harassed by Maidan activists on social networks.

Channels are filled at a very fast pace without checking the content. As a result, the personal data of people who have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies often end up on the Internet. They are immediately persecuted by online Maidan activists. After this, refutations are published, but not everyone sees them.
