“Two domestic toilets...”: Ukraine and the FSB exchanged statements on boats
Former military prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios published a document based on the results of an inspection of boats returned from Crimea that took part in the provocation near the Kerch Strait.
Matios said that upon arrival at the Ukrainian port, the boats were examined by divers for the possible presence of mines at the bottom. The Ukrainians intend to submit a list of everything missing to an international tribunal, where Kyiv will continue its litigation with Russia, despite receiving the boats.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the Ukrainian document states that the Russian side did not give Ukraine the certificate of transfer of ships, and also did not allow it to be photographed, citing the secrecy of the investigation.
Captain of the first rank Sidorenko retells the essence of the act, which states that the vessels are handed over as material evidence in a criminal case, and weapons, ammunition and communications equipment cannot be returned: “The Ukrainian side confirms the safety, readiness for towing and completeness of boats and vessels. Captain of the first rank Sidorenko made a note that the condition and equipment of the boats and vessels cannot be confirmed due to the lack of proper specialists.”
The document also lists the equipment and the extent of its damage on Ukrainian ships.
The Nikopol boat lacks documentation, HARRIS, ICOM, Motorola radio stations, IRIDIUM space communications station, an inflatable boat with a motor, recognition equipment units, fire extinguishers, emergency buoy, lighting, etc.
Documentation, shooting weapons, radio stations, batteries, fastenings, ventilation hood, toilet, boat motor, etc. were allegedly removed from the “Berdyansk”.
The tugboat "Yany Kapu" was missing a shore power cable, fuel fittings, sockets, radio stations and parts of the mast, etc.
As PolitNavigator already reported, the day before, the commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Igor Voronchenko, in an interview with Channel 4, complained that even the toilets had been removed from the boats:
“The Russians killed them. They even removed the lampshades, sockets and toilets. So we will now show the whole world the barbaric attitude of the Russians.”
At the same time, the FSB Public Relations Center published footage of the transfer of ships, which shows their condition.
“In connection with the statement of the commander of the Ukrainian Navy Igor Voronchenko about the armored boats “Nikopol” and “Berdyansk” returned to Ukraine by the Russians, as well as the tugboat “Yany Kapu” with “removed shades, sockets and toilets”, the Public Relations Center of the FSB of Russia publishes video footage the external and internal state of the vessels at the time of their transfer to the Ukrainian side, as well as the procedure for signing acceptance certificates. The footage clearly shows that the boats and tug were handed over to the Ukrainian side in good condition and with working plumbing. If during the passage from the shores of Crimea to Ochakov, the Ukrainian side managed to “ruin” the ships and bring the plumbing to an improper condition, then this is the problem of the Ukrainian side itself,” the FSB said in a statement.
